UMOE Mandal to produce Saildrone Surveyor V3
Umoe Mandal has been selected to build the next generation of Saildrone Surveyor V3, marking an exciting milestone in Saildrone’s continued expansion across Europe. The partnership represents a significant step forward in the development of advanced autonomous maritime capabilities and further strengthens Norway’s position as a hub for cuttingedge naval and defense technologies.
As part of its European growth strategy, Saildrone has established a new European headquarters in Copenhagen alongside manufacturing partnerships in Norway, Poland, and the Netherlands. Umoe Mandal will play a central role in this expansion by producing the Saildrone Surveyor V3, a largeuncrewed surface vehicle (USV) designed for long-endurance maritime operations in demanding environments.
For Umoe Mandal, the program aligns perfectly with the company’s strategic focus on defense and advanced maritime security systems. In recent years, the company has strengthened its position as a trusted supplier to international naval programs through the delivery of mast structures for the Royal Navy’s and The Royal Norwegian Navy’s Type 26 frigates, production of advanced naval gun cupolas, and a growing portfolio of defense related projects.
The Saildrone Surveyor program further reinforces this direction and underscores Umoe Mandal’s ambition to be a leading European partner for next generation maritime and defense solutions. It also comes at a time when the company is expanding its production facilities and industrial capacity to meet increasing demand from both defense and security customers.
This collaboration combines Saildrone’s world leading autonomous technology with Umoe Mandal’s expertise in advanced composite structures, lightweight materials, and high-performance vessel manufacturing. We are proud to contribute to the future of autonomous maritime operations while supporting European industrial growth and security. Tom Fidjeland CEO Umoe Mandal
We’re excited to partner with Umoe Mandal, whose decades of expertise in advanced composites and high-performance vessel construction make them a natural partner for the next generation of Surveyor. Building Surveyor in Norway will bring that deep maritime know-how together with our technology, while giving our European customers access to sovereign production capacity closer to where they operate.
